DCOF Slip Resistance Testing

Slip Resistance Testing

DCOF Slip resistance testing.  When floor safety is a concern for your business it is important to be aware of any gaps in your safety protocols. Let Alberta Floor Safety Solutions be your slip resistance testing professional. The New American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B101.1 Standard requires that all walking surfaces in businesses and worksites meet or exceed a minimum Coefficient of Friction (TRACTION) of 0.60. Alberta Floor Safety Solutions certified floor safety providers can assist with evaluating the current condition of your floors and ensuring the floors in your business meet or exceed the standard.

At Alberta Floor Safety Solutions we use the highest piece of technology available on the market to test the safety of the floor.  We use the BOT-3000E Digital Tribometer (Slip Resistance Tester). The BOT-3000E (Binary Output Tribometer) can measure both static and dynamic coefficient of friction with a variety of test sliders in both wet and dry conditions. It also provides a printed record of test parameters and results which can strengthen courtroom credibility.

In layman’s terms, the Bot-3000 tests how much grip there is on the floor when wet.  The reading it gives determines the safety of the floor when wet. ABS Solutions uses this reading to tell you exactly what the safety score of your flooring is.  We can then treat it to bring it well above the recognized standard for safety by the American National Standards Association.

The BOT-3000E conforms to American National Standard B101.1, “Test Method for Measuring Wet SCOF of Common Hard-Surfaced Floor Materials”. It also conforms to ANSI B101.3, A137.1, and A326.3 which measure dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF). It has been validated according to ASTM F2508-13 “Standard Practice for Validation, Calibration, and Certification of Walkway Tribometers Using Reference Surfaces.”

Slip and Fall Liability

If you are worried about slip and falls in the workplace then this is a test that you NEED.  If a slip and fall occurs and it goes into litigation you can be sure they will be testing the co-effiecnt of friction in the area that the incident occurred.  If it is below the standard for safety then you can be assured it will be a major point in the case. This can all be avoided by simply having an audit done on the area of concern.  If it is below the safety standards then actions can be taken to fix your problem before any incidents happen. Then if there is a slip and fall you can be sure to show your readings and your business has done its due diligence in preventing slip and falls.
